Global Fest
Global Fest is an annual family-friendly cultural and fireworks event that comprises a dance program, interactive games, and world-class fireworks performed by pyro artists. Global Fest has been entertaining guests for the past 20 years. The week-long festival in Elliston Park honors Calgary’s diverse populations. Cultural pavilions highlight the beauty of more than 20 countries through dance performances and an international cuisine scene, and the event concludes with spectacular fireworks at night.
Global Fest features food concessionaires located throughout the festival grounds. These pop-up tents exhibit cuisines from all over the world, such as the Caribbean, and occasionally include informational displays with interesting cultural tidbits. It’s always exciting to test out new cuisines created from scratch and ordered by people who, in some circumstances, have had these recipes passed down to them through centuries. Discovering a new favorite meal is likely to occur at the food concessionaires.
You can also enjoy the artisan stores located at the Night Market. These shops are as varied as the cultures and foods seen in the cultural pavilions; you never know what interesting keepsakes and presents you’ll find within.
Go Stand-Up Paddleboarding
The world’s fastest-growing sport has arrived in Calgary. Stand-up paddleboarding is simple to learn, so beginners will fall in love with it promptly. Lake Chestermere, barely 20 minutes from Calgary, has a rental store on-site. Bowness Lagoon at Bowness Park is also another alternative.
If you’re up for a challenge, try stand-up paddle boarding along the Bow River in Calgary. It takes more skill and expertise than paddling on a quiet lake. The Banff National Park features blue water, which is perfect for memorable and scenic paddleboarding experiences.
Ziplining at Canada Olympic Park
Ziplining is one of the activities that provide the biggest adrenaline. Winsport Canada Olympic Park is an Olympic training facility for ski jumping and bobsledding, and visitors and tourists are welcome to try them out. The Calgary zip line is the steepest and quickest in North America, and the best part is that you jump off the top of the ski jump and ride right down the ramp. The top of the ski jump is the highest observation point in Calgary, and the line is 510 meters (1673 feet) long.
You can also try the Freefall, where you fall from 8 stories high with a slow descent to the ground.
